Fancy Colored Diamonds

Fancy Yellow diamonds often command high prices. The fancy colors range from Fancy Light - Fancy - Fancy Intense - Fancy Deep - and Fancy Vivid. While Fancy Yellow is more common, Fancy Colored Diamonds can and occur in every possible color. There are Colorless Diamonds (D, E, F), Near Colorless Diamonds (G,H,I), progressively off colored diamonds (J-Z), being yellow, brown, or gray, and Fancy Colored Diamonds.

Though fancy colored diamonds do occur in nature, they are quite expensive. Most fancy colored diamonds are made artificially through the process of irradiation or extreme heat. This enhancement of color can result in permanently changing the color of the diamond. The tests for identification of the diamond’s original color though conclusive may require sophisticated equipment and extremely qualified testers. It is important that a good and reputed testing and grading lab confirm the origin of color, as natural.

Brown diamonds have a tint of brownish body color. They tend to be less expensive than most other diamonds as they are less appealing given the brownish tint. The brown group too, like al other diamonds, graded by tone, from light to dark. Their appearance, however, may be slightly whiter than a diamond of slightly yellowish body color, in the same color grade range. In their lightest tone, they appear averagely white in a yellow setting.

The common shades are of a brown diamond are

Very light brown (champagne), medium brown (champagne), Brown (dark champagne), and Dark brown (fancy cognac).
